Regarding a "system" of play, I wanted to submit my suggestion:
1. Turns last a set amount of real world time, for an example, 1 turn per week, or 2 turns per week, depending on what we're willing to commit to in our schedules
2. The DM makes a post at the beginning of the turn where he sets the stage in response to the players moves from the previous round.
3. The players then have until the beginning of the next turn to post their responses for what their character will do.
4. Return to step 2 - The DM then posts where the players are at and how their responses ended up working out.
Example: Monday at noon is the beginning of each turn. Brandon posts "Logan, your character is continuing to have sex with that chicken. What do you guys do?" Charlie posts "Film it and masturbate" and Ben posts "Masturbate on top of Charlie's character" and I post "Masturbate even harder than everyone else while whispering 'chickenfucker' over and over again" and Logan posts "Continue having sex with teh chicken" and then at noon on Monday Brandon posts "Logan's character continues to have sex with the chicken again while everyone watches and masturbates."
Please note that just because the example included a lot of masturbating doesn't mean that is the only available action in the campaign (it's just the best available action really)
Also, for battles, which should be way quicker paced, we can have "special events" like.. we get into the battle and Brandon says "Ok, the battle is taking place on Tuesday night at 8 pm" and then we all enter into a chat where we can play out the battle round for round in a brisk and entertaining fashion.
